Gas Giant Maelstrom with Golden Coin Pearls

Well, the opportunity previously mentioned didn't quite work out as planned. What's that expression – Man plans, God laughs? The Northern Virginia Bead Society meeting was cancelled on Thursday due to inclement weather. But the beads and pendants that I made for sale have been left with the president, to be shown at the rescheduled meeting this Thursday.

In the meantime, Jules (of Jules' Jewels) and I took advantage of being snowed in to spend some time in her studio. She showed me how she makes her signature clasps (and I even got to make a few of my own) and how she wires chain. From those lessons, I made this piece, which consists of golden coin pearls, black spinels, sterling silver, and polymer clay.

I'm really proud of this piece. Aesthetically, I think it's beautiful, and it shows off some new skills that I've added to my toolbox. I showed a photo of it to a friend, and it was instantly sold! It's a little disappointing that I never even got to wear it, though! LOL
